Joe Chaudoin, a senior at Starr’s Mill High School, was one of 30 Georgia High School Football players to receive the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholarship Award honoring scholar / leader athletes. The award is co-sponsored by Texaco Havoline, Gallagher Electric and Engineering, The Georgia High School Foundation, and The Atlanta Falcon Youth Foundation. Based on excellence in academics and football, Chaudoin had been nominated by Starr’s Mill High School Football Coach Mike Earwood and was presented with the award at a ceremony at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Atlanta on Dec. 29.
George Morris, president of the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame, presented each scholar-athlete with their award in a ceremony at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta. Award winners then enjoyed the luncheon portion of the event and were acknowledged during Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl “Chalk Talk,” with both bowl teams, LSU and Miami, in attendance. “This is another outstanding group of scholar-athletes from throughout the state of Georgia,” Morris said. “We are proud to add this select company, which includes student managers for the first time, to our previous winners of the last 10 years. Following the presentation ceremony and along with the other recipients, Joe and his parents attended the Peach Bowl luncheon. The players and coaches of the LSU Tigers and University of Miami Hurricanes recognized each recipient during the luncheon. As a captain of the Starr’s Mill High School football team this past season, Chaudoin was a First Team All-Region selection as an Offensive Tackle and was recognized as a member of the Georgia High School Pre-Season All-Academic Team. Involved in his schools advanced chorus “Chanticleer”, he serves as President of that group as well as President of the schools academic Beta Club. Chaudoin is also a four-year participant on the Starrs Mill High School debate team and is an active member in the high school youth group at Heritage Christian Church and “God Stuff” at Peachtree City First United Methodist Church. Chaudoin is considering Stanford University, UCLA, Columbia University, and The University of Georgia. login to post comments |
