E.E. “Gene" Young, 86, died April 13, 2008. He was born Oct. 25, 1921. He had joined the United States Army in 1938 and transferred to the Army Air Corps in 1940. He served in Alaska and Italy during World War II. After service, he was recruited by Eastern Air Lines where he was a pilot for 33 years. In retirement, he was involved in many volunteer and philanthropic activities, and loved playing golf with friends. He was a member of Peachtree City United Methodist Church for 17 years. Memorial services were at Peachtree City United Methodist Church, with ashes being scattered in the Garden of Celebration at the church. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Georgia Chickadaunce Young; a son, Eddy and Judy; a daughter, Luellyn; grandchildren, Jeff Wall and Katie Hilburn; brothers, Verdelle Young and Rex Young; a sister, Doris McElhinney; an adopted family, David and Tammi Herrmann; and grandchildren, Alex, Ammi, and Natalie Herrmann. Memorial donations may be made to the Peachtree City United Methodist Church Garden of Celebration Fund, 225 Robinson Rd., Peachtree City, GA 30269. Cremation Society of the South, Eagle's Landing, was in charge. login to post comments |
