James Donald "Don" Thomas, 63, Wedowee, Ala., formerly of Fayetteville, died April 10, 2008. He was born Oct. 19, 1944, the son of James E. and Catherine Hamm Thomas. He had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He had been a manager of the fuel service department for Delta Airlines for 34 years. He was a member of A&M Fire Department and the Delta Epsilon Club. He had been a longtime member of Corinth Baptist Church, Fayetteville, and lately was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Wedowee. Services were at the Corinth Baptist Church, Fayetteville, with the Rev. R.L. Stephens and the Rev. Don Paris officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Adams Thomas, Wedowee; a son, David M. Thomas, Atlanta; a daughter, Donna and Robby Phillips, Wedowee; an honorary son, Thomas J. Adams, Daytona Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Spenser Kathryn Phillips and Sutton Thomas Phillips; a stepmother, Blanche Taylor Thomas, Chilhowie, Va.; and sisters, Linda Thomas Currin, Sugar Grove, Va., and Joanne Thomas, Moneta, Va. Benefield Funeral Home, Wedowee, was in charge. login to post comments |
