Ruby Davis Betsill

Ruby, "Gran-Ruby" Davis Betsill, 100, Fayetteville, died April 12, 2008. She was born Jan. 1, 1908, daughter of Oscar Strickland and Mary Malitta Hill Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lem Betsill, who died in 1974, children, Clarence, Davis, Herman, Marjean, Horace and James, and two granddaughters. This past January, she was feted to her centennial birthday with over 100 descendants attending. She had lived within a 10-mile circle all her life. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. David Hart, and the Rev. Ken Magnus officiating. Interment was at the Banks Cemetery, Fayetteville. Survivors include a son, Paul Betsill, Fayetteville; a daughter, Mary Jo and Albert Fuller, Homer, Ga.; 24 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 49 great-great-grandchildren; and her faithful dog, Prissy II. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
