The McIntosh High School Science Olympiad team finished fourth for the second year in a row at the Georgia State Science Olympiad in Augusta, highlighted by winning a gold, a silver and a bronze medal in three events. Margaret Jones and Timothy Morris took first in Rocks and Minerals and second in Herpetology; Brian Forsyth and Danny Christ finished second in Robot Ramble; Joseph Morris, Charles He and Ashley Lang won third in Experimental Design; and Forsyth and Martine van Voorthuysen added a fourth in Disease Detectives. The team consists of 15 students competing in 23 varied events. McIntosh qualified for state competition by winning the regional Science Olympiad in Tifton, Ga., in March. The team was coached this year by McIntosh science teacher Stephanie Sisk, with assistance from several parent and teacher coaches for individual events. The McIntosh Science Olympiad team claimed their second consecutive fourth-place finish in the 2008 Georgia State Science Olympiad competition, coming close to earning a spot in the National Science Olympiad. login to post comments |
