Senoia Optimist Club barbecue set for May 29Fri, 04/18/2008 - 8:40am

The Senoia Optimist Club will be hosting a pork barbecue fund-raiser (including brunswick stew) on Saturday, May 29. Serving time will be approximately 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until the food is sold out. The barbecue will be served at the Senoia Masonic Lodge which is located at 19 Main Street in downtown Senoia, between Hollberg's Fine Furniture and the Senoia Coffee Company. Prices for food will be as follows: • Plates with drink: $ 6.50 • Pound of meat: $9 • Quart of Stew: $7.50 • Gallon of Stew: $25 The proceeds will be used for several important service projects to help young people and the community. Some of the current initiatives include the following: • Scholarship to a deserving high school senior; • Student recognition at East Coweta Middle School; • Youth Appreciation Banquet; • Youth Fingerprint Project; • Prizes to the winners of our annual Oratorical and Essay contests; • Donations to the Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Ranch and other worthy causes; and • Respect for Law Banquet. The motto of Optimist Clubs International is "Friend of Youth." The barbecue will be catered by Johnny Brown's out of Hogansville. This popular outfit has served at many area events over the years, including Powers Crossroads. Tickets can be bought the day of the barbecue at the Senoia Masonic Lodge. If you are unable to make it to the barbecue but would like to purchase any of the products being served, please contact any Optimist Club member, including those listed above. As long as supplies are available, they can assist in making arrangements to get your food to you at a later time or date (frozen if necessary).
