Billy Joe "Bill" McWaters, 72, died April 14, 2008. He was born in Coweta County, son of the late Robert and Sara Lee Bell McWaters. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Thomas Ware McWaters, Robert Wayne McWaters, and sisters, Runelle McWaters McKoy, and Frances McWaters Webb. He grew up in the Welcome community and attended Western School. He later attended West Georgia College and served in the National Guard for eight years. Following a successful career in banking, he retired in 1998 and enjoyed his years of good times with family and friends. He was a lifetime member of the Benevolent Order of the Elks. Memorial services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Harry Barrow officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan. Survivors include his wife, Linda Cochran McWaters, Newnan; Daughters, Misty Lee McWaters, Newnan, and Kay and Marshall Cawthon, Moreland; grandchildren, Meg Cawthon and Tommy Morgan, and Matthew Cawthon, all of Auburn, Ala., Emily McWaters and Sara McWaters, both of Newnan; and a sister, Helen McWaters Faulkner, Rome. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society, P. O. Box 785, Newnan, GA 30264 or the Newnan Presbyterian Church, 38 Greenville St., Newnan, GA 30263.
