The Newnan Coweta Public Safety Appreciation Board in conjunction with the Newnan Kiwanis Club this year will be hosting its tenth anniversary Public Safety Luncheon on May 2. The luncheon will be at the Coweta Fairgrounds from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. honoring every person who serves with the public safety agencies in Coweta County.

The Newnan City Council will recognize April 27- May 2 as public safety week. Blue ribbons may be purchased at Murphey’s Florist in downtown for $5. Businesses and citizens are asked to hang these during the week to show their appreciation for the men and women in public safety.

The Appreciation Board is also urging churches and schools to participate as much as possible. On April 27 at noon, the fire departments will have the ladder trucks in downtown Newnan holding the American flag over Jefferson Street to signal the start of Public Safety Appreciation Week

The public’s help is needed for donations. Contributions should be made to the Newnan Coweta Public Safety Benevolent Fund for the luncheon, and any funds not used toward the luncheon will be placed in the benevolent fund to help public safety personnel and their families in case of medical or financial hardships. Anyone wanting to contribute is asked to make a check payable to NCPS Benevolent Fund and mail it to P.O. Box 1113, Newnan, GA, 30264.

The Newnan Coweta Public Safety Appreciation Board is made up of Norma Haynes, Chair; Judy Bell, Lynn Blackburn, Gail Carnes, Tammy Cash, Ruth Ann Embrey, Tommy Godfrey, Jim and Nancy McGuffey. Jimmy Bass is representing the Newnan Kiwanis Club.
