Co-defendant to stand trial this week A Fulton County jury has convicted an East Point man of murdering a long-time north Fayette resident in College Park Dec. 22, 2006. Jarmarvis Dixon, 26, was found guilty Monday of three counts of murder along with one count each of murder, armed robbery, hijacking a motor vehicle, burglary, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, financial transaction card theft and 2 counts of financial transaction card fraud. Dixon is one of two men accused of killing Thomas Vinson, 59, at a home he had been renovating for a “crash pad” to lease to transient personnel for Delta Air Lines, where he had retired from. The other suspect, Ronregus Watts, 20, is going on trial this week on similar charges. Vinson was shot and killed and the two are accused of stealing his wallet and truck. They were apprehended at a Kroger grocery store four days after the killing trying to make a purchase with the stolen credit card, officials said. Sentencing for Dixon has been postponed and is likely to occur sometime after Watts’ trial. login to post comments |
