Max Edwin Griffies Sr., 67, Newnan, died April 4, 2008. He was born Sept. 8, 1940 in Newnan. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edwin Griffies and Lorene Carroll Griffies Musick, his wife, Jane Farmer Griffies, and a grandson, Tommy Whitlock. Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ellis Freeman and Warren Budd officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Webb Flock Griffies, Newnan; sons, Max Edwin and Becky Griffies Jr., Bret and Brandi Griffies, and Brian and Trent Giraffes, all of Newnan; daughters, Sandee Webb Whitlock, Mindy Flock, Audra and Jeff Avery, all of Newnan, and Kelly and Alan Bair, Clarkesville, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to St. George Catholic Church Building Fund, 771 Roscoe Rd., Newnan, GA 30263.
