Carlton L. Deck

Carlton L. Deck, 80, Peachtree City, died March 30, 2008. He was born and raised in Trenton, N.J., and was graduated from Hamilton High School in 1945. He served in the United States Naval Hospital Corps from 1945 to 1947. He then worked for General Electric, and then U. S. Steel. His final and favorite position was as a self-employed cabinetmaker and woodworker. He moved to Peachtree City in 1994 and was active in the Presbyterian Church, first in Morrisville, Pa. and then Peachtree City. He loved crossword puzzles, computers and email, jokes, woodworking and working in his yard. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and kindness to everyone.

Memorial services were at First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City, with the Rev. Dr. David Miller officiating. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, whom he married in 1950, Norma Deck, Peachtree City; a son, Rod and Kay Deck, Acton, Mass.; daughters, Cindy and Bruce Wahlig, Newtown, Pa., and Peggy O'Farrell, Peachtree City; a sister, Marleane Hutchinson, Hamilton Square, N.J.; grandchildren, Michelle and Brent Newsom, Mansfield, Texas, Melissa Deck, and Ryan Deck, both of Acton, Mass., Leigh O'Farrell, and Austin O'Farrell, both of Peachtree City; step-grandchildren, Mark and Amy Wahlig, and Laura Pfreschner, all of Ft. Myers, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Madison and Raegan Newsom, both of Mansfield, Texas; and step-great-grandchildren, Ashley Wahlig and Nicole Nin, Florida. Following his wishes, his eyes were donated for the benefit of others. Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge.
