Christ’s Church at Whitewater is now offering two Sunday morning worship service formats, a Celebration service at 9:30 a.m. and a Vintage service at 11 a.m.

“Because people are affected differently by the various styles of worship, we are seeking to open wide our doors to all whom God may send and offer two varieties, a Celebration and a Vintage worship service,” said Stephen Carpenter, senior minister. “Music is a tool that draws people into the presence of God. It connects people to the Lord and opens their heart to hear His word through Scripture.”

According to Carpenter, the Celebration service incorporates new worship songs and gives old hymns a unique, modern sound. The Celebration service, he says, is contemporary and media driven with videos, DVDs, Power Point slides, and other tools. The music is upbeat and led by a full praise band. In addition, dramas enhance the message in a casual service.

Carpenter says the Vintage service is being offered in a “renewed and vigorous effort to target and reach seniors.” He says his desire is for Christ’s Church to be the best church to attend if you’re a senior.

The Vintage service combines the classic elements of faith and worship in a more formal atmosphere. It incorporates the cherished traditions of the church with new and modern means of communication.

In this service, the music is driven by keyboards and piano, and is acoustically enhanced. Carpenter adds that traditional hymns as well as today’s Christian choruses will be sung at the Vintage service but with a different style than at the Celebration service.

Sunday school classes for adults, children, and middle and high school youth are available during both worship hours.

During the 11 a.m. service, children, ages 2 through 5th grade, and their parents, participate in Kidz Biz, a family style worship with music, drama, and media.
