Summer of discontent
The wars will continue and will probably expand. Inflation will become common and jobs will continue to decrease.
The cost of oil, and all of the other items made from it's products, will force cost cutting by individuals to be able to survive, but public payrolls and service industries will expand and become even more costly.
Health care is now a major employer and expanding rapidly. The federal government will be required to pick up that bill, or that industry could cause a depression as
credit crunches currently has.
The facts are that many of us make too much money for what we do and we invest much of it into things that are unhelpful to the middle and low income wage earners.
They tried to buy nice homes but were taken advantage of by a new industry--hedged, poor credit. Credit finally went way too far and it is failing miserably.
The baby-boomers are now starting to retire, producing nothing and drawing their food and shelter from Uncle Sam!
They have harped and criticized the Social Security system, but I think they will be glad to have it on which they can at least eat.
Let me warn you of something: every time we as a country get into economic trouble, we start a war so big that it leads us out of a depression. A reason can just be picked out of the air and most will believe it.
The problem now is where will the financing come from for such a war---we have burned up the credit?
Well, the answer to that lies with "whoever has the money." You pick them!
Maybe we should control all oil! All food! All peace (or not). Want to give it a try?
