Two recent burglaries in Tyrone resulted in the theft of a plasma television in one break-in and nothing missing in the other.

A 55-inch plasma television was stolen in a March 27 burglary at Georgia Cigar, Tobacco & Coffee on Ga. Highway 74, according to Tyrone Police spokesperson Alicia Batts.

Batts said officers and the owner arrived at the location after an alarm call was made at approximately 2 a.m., finding a broken glass panel in the store’s front door. A survey of the store revealed that a television had been stolen.

Another break-in occurred a short distance away at Wendell Coffee Golf Center, also on Hwy. 74, said Batts. Occurring sometime between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m., an employee arriving at work found a door window shattered.

A search of the premises determined that nothing had been stolen, though a cable box and VCR had been removed and were found dangling by the cables from the mantle where they were positioned, Batts said.

Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to contact Tyrone Police at (770) 487-4732.
