Coweta County commissioners have set a May 13 date for a public hearing on a rezoning request by Piedmont Healthcare, Inc. for the new 800,000 square-foot Piedmont Newnan Hospital proposed for the south side of I-85 and Poplar Road. Plans for the 104.74-acre site include a hospital and medical complex. Plans for the project are proposed in two phases. The first phase is expected to be completed in 2010 while the second phase is projected for completion in 2020. Aside from the proposed 800,000 square-foot multi-story hospital, the rezoning request includes two 125,000 square-foot medical office buildings, a 30,000 square-foot central energy plant, a 245,000 square-foot hospital parking deck and a 166,250 square-foot medical office parking deck. Coweta County Planning Director Robert Tolleson said Phase 1 includes the hospital building at 360,000 square feet and a 120,000 square-foot medical building. Phase 2 would complete the remaining buildings. The request would change the zoning from Rural Conservation (RC) to Office-Institutional (O-I). The project has been reviewed by Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) and by Chattahoochee Flint Regional Development Center, Tolleson said. The public hearing is scheduled for May 13 in the commission chambers. login to post comments |
