Fayette County’s Earth Day event has over 40 exhibitors that will meet April 12, at Fayetteville's Main Street and Heritage Park. The 'green' theme fair runs from 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

There are several youth groups participating, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and the 4-H Club and there will also be organic farmers, rain barrel companies, a Chevy hybrid, Georgia Forestry, Atlanta Audubon Society, Solar Energy, the Southern Conservation Trust, Habitat for Humanity, several nurseries and more.

Some of the unique booths are the Nike 'Reuse A Shoe' program hosted by the FCHS Lady Tigers basketball team, and SolesUnited by a second-grader at Kedron Elementary. Nike will accept any brand athletic shoe and with other organizations, shred them to make rubber tracks, courts, etc. The SolesUnited is not only a great recycling program but a humanitarian one as well. Crocs will recycle their shoes and make new shoes that are given to needy children around the world. (http://www.solesunited.com/)

There will be several other schools participating as well. Rising Starr Middle School will be selling their cloth grocery bags sporting the school logo, Spring Hill Elementary will bring displays of their 'green inventions', and Fayette County High School is showcasing a solar-powered lawn mower. Besides the wide variety of demonstrations and displays, there will also be entertainment by the Honey Creek Boys, a bluegrass band, and a demonstration by Master Shim's World Class Tae Kwon Do.
