Peachtree City is about to lose a wonderful program. The First Presbyterian Kindergarten program may be in its last year despite providing what I believe to be a great alternative to public kindergarten.

Due to a decrease in enrollment, the school may have to close down this class.

I have three daughters. My first two I placed in the public schools kindergarten. My last has a late summer birthday and I enrolled her at First Presbyterian. I wish I would have provided this experience for my other two daughters.

My youngest thrived in a small classroom setting. She received excellent instruction, art, physical education, music and Spanish. She enjoyed a modified schedule that gave her a chance to have both a half day and full day experience.

I know many people that share my view that all-day kindergarten is too much. She did more learning in less time, with less students, all while in a Christian-valued environment.

Not only did she enjoy Christmas and Easter celebrations, but she also celebrated our great county with patriotic songs and a program.

Alas, this is my last little one to attend the school. Had I more, I would not hesitate to send them. I write this as my way to thank this school for how well it prepared my daughters.

My youngest will enter the public school next year, more prepared then I could imagine. More than that, she had one more year in a school that celebrated her childhood with lots of play, lots of love and lots of learning.

Should you desire an excellent education for your child, whether you have one with a late summer birthday or not, I recommend this to you with all my worth as a mother bent on the best for her children.

Avoid the long days, the overcrowding and the embarrassing lack of recess and foreign language. Enroll in First Presbyterian; you need only ask any parent of the graduating kindergarten class for their recommendation.

Mrs. Perry, Mrs. Whitlow, we love how you nurtured and taught our children. Thank you!
