• Smith named to the dean's list Jared James Smith of Tyrone, Ga. has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2007 semester at Georgia Southern University. To be eligible for the dean's list, a student must have at least a 3.50 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours for the semester. Smith is majoring in international studies. Georgia Southern University, a Carnegie Doctoral/Research University, offers more than 120 degree programs serving nearly 17,000 students. Through eight colleges, the university offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs built on more than a century of academic achievement. The university, one of Georgia’s largest, is a top choice of Georgia’s HOPE scholars and is recognized for its student-centered approach to education. Visit www.georgiasouthern.edu for more info. • Wright named to KU honor roll Michelle Brianne Wright, of Peachtree City, Ga., has been named to the honor roll at the University of Kansas for the fall 2007 semester. The honor roll comprises undergraduates who meet requirements in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and in the allied health; architecture and urban design; business; education; engineering; fine arts; journalism; nursing; and social welfare schools. Honor roll criteria vary among the university's academic units. Some schools honor the top 10 percent of students enrolled, some establish a minimum grade-point average and others raise the minimum GPA for each year students are in school. Students must complete a minimum number of credit hours to be considered for the honor roll. A student on KU's Lawrence campus, Wright is a sophomore majoring in fine arts.
