A contract with Georgia Dept. of Transportation (GDOT) that will lead to site preparation on a 10-acre site for future hangar development at Newnan Coweta County Airport was executed March 18 by Coweta County Commission. Previously approved by the commission in August 2007, 75 percent of the estimated $329,437 cost will be reimbursed by GDOT upon project completion. Referenced as the East Apron Site Preparation project, the work will ready the 10-acre area for what is expected to be the site of future hangar facilities, said airport manager Calvin Walker. The largest line item in the contract is designated for excavation, estimated at $143,262. The project also includes the required infrastructure, fencing, grassing and mulching and all pertinent inspections. An anticipated completion date for the project cannot be set until the project go-ahead is given by GDOT. The contract states that any actual costs of the total project exceeding the estimated costs will be the responsibility of Coweta County. login to post comments |
