Members of the Senoia Optimist Club will be on site at the opening day for the Senoia Area Little League on Saturday, March 15 to provide a free fingerprinting service to the youth and their parents or guardians.

Coupons for a free Chick-fil-A sandwich or other treat, courtesy of Chick-fil-A corporate headquarters, will be provided to each child who is fingerprinted on a first-come, first-served basis (one coupon per child). The Optimist Club will also serve free popcorn to those visiting its booth. The Little League fields are located on Howard Road off of Ga. Highway 16 in Senoia.

According to the website www.childidprogram.com, over 800,000 children are missing every year in the United States. Over half run away, many are abducted by family members and some are abducted by strangers.

The Optimist Club of Senoia is part of an international organization whose motto is “Friend of Youth.” From approximately 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., the Optimist Club members will be near the concession stand at the Senoia ball fields to fingerprint the youth. The activity is also supported by the Senoia Police Department and the Coweta County Sheriff’s Department who may have representatives at this special event if available.

The Senoia Optimist Club will provide the fingerprints to the parents or guardians to maintain as a record for safekeeping. They will also have brochures that provide many useful tips and help promote overall awareness about child protection.
