Lucrete Stephens "Lou" Bonner, Grantville, died Feb. 18, 2008. She was April 25, 1929, one of 15 children born to the late George Washington and Henrietta Warren Stephens, in Franklin. She was also preceded in death by eight of her siblings. She was educated in the Heard County School System at the Mary Johnson School. She married Alvin Bonner Sr. Her early jobs were menial, but she was able to support not only her family, but her sister's as well. Her love of God, dogged determinations and work ethic landed her more satisfying work in later years. She had worked as a quality control inspector for the James River Corporation. She joined Heard Bethel Baptist Church at an early age, and upon moving to Newnan, joined Zion Hill Baptist Church. She was a faithful usher until her health prevented her from serving, but she remained a member of the Senior Mission until her death. She had opened her home and heart to foster children.

Services were at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. W. J. Johnson officiating. Interment was at Eastview Cemetery.

Survivors include children, Alvin "Sonny" and Wanda Bonner Jr., Anthony "Tony" Bonner, Mary Alice "Mary" Bonner, and Jeremy "Mike" Bonner, all of Newnan; siblings Artis C., Frances "Willie Dean", Emily, Arthur, Andy, and Margie: grandchildren, Algernon and Stephanie, Doran, Eric, Corey and Angela, Chris, and Alan; great-grandchildren, Alex, Cayleb, and Carmen.

Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
