Major 2008 high school year-end dates

The Coweta County High Schools are looking forward to the beginning of their honors and graduation seasons, beginning shortly after the week of Spring Break (April 7-11).

Coweta’s three high school’s will follow the traditional graduation schedule of the past several years, with East Coweta High School holding graduation on the Saturday morning after the last day of school (May 23).

Northgate and Newnan High Schools are again trading off the Thursday and Friday night graduation dates. This year Northgate High School’s class of 2008 will hold their ceremonies May 22, with Newnan’s ceremonies held May 23.

Graduating classes are planning to hold Baccalaureate services on May 18 at local churches, though all three locations have yet to be finalized. All three high schools will also hold their proms on May 3, as well.

The schedule for major year-end dates in 2008 for each high school is:

Northgate High School

Honors Night: April 28 7 p.m., Arts Center

Baccalaureate: May 18 2 p.m. (final time and location TBA)

Graduation: May 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Henry Seldon Field (Johnny Brown Gymnasium in case of rain)

This year’s Northgate High School Valedictorian is Erin Blake, and the Salutatorian is Christopher Kirkland.

Newnan High School

Honors Night: May 1, 7 p.m., Newnan High Auditorium

Baccalaureate: May 18 2 p.m. (final time and location TBA)

Graduation: Friday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Drake Stadium (Bass Gymnasium in case of rain)

This year’s Newnan High School Valedictorian is Katherine Hendley, and the Salutatorian is Julianne Wyrick.

East Coweta High School

Honors Night: May 5, 7 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center

Baccalaureate: May 18 2 p.m. (final time and location TBA)

Graduation: May 24, 9 a.m. at Shoemake Stadium (Thrower Gymnasium in case of rain)

This year’s East Coweta High School Valedictorian is Brandon Bringuel, and the Salutatorian is Christine Vitiello.

Central Educational Center

Dual Enrollment Graduation: May 20, 7:00 p.m., at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts
