Fayette County chorus enters the ‘Reel World’

Spring flowers are blooming, birds are returning to their spring and summer haunts and, as always, this time of year brings plenty of entertainment for the community.

This weekend is no different as the 2007-2008 Fayette County High School Select Chorus presents their annual variety show at F.A. Sams Auditorium in Fayetteville.

This year’s show, “Everything Music – Reel World,” will premiere on March 13 and run through March 16. Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

This year’s production tells the story of a group of individuals making their way in the film industry. As the show gets underway, the cast will take audiences through the auditioning process and onto the movie set, then from the movie set to opening night and on to the Academy Awards.

During the show, audience members will get to see some familiar characters, who the show’s unsuspecting talent comes into contact with, like Britney Spears – who will be portrayed by Emily Garrott, Lindsay Lohan –played by Lindsay Grant and Paris Hilton – played by Amy Hebel.

As the story unfolds, audiences will be entertained by the chorus, singing such songs as “Don’t Stop Me Now,” “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous,” “Material Girl” and “Glamorous” along with “One Fine Day.” “The Lady is a Vamp” will be performed by the trio of Garrott, Grant and Amy Hebel and the choral quartet – Patrick Blankenbecker, Keith Browning, Marcus Rodriguez and Michael Keel – will perform popular songs “Love Stoned” and “Bye, Bye, Bye.”

Tickets for “Everything Music – Reel World” are $8 for adults and $5 for students in advance and $10 at the door. Advance tickets are available at the front office of Fayette County High or from Select Chorus members. The show is a fund raiser for the chorus.
