• McIntyre accepted for admission to Luther College Scot Schaeffer, Luther College vice president for enrollment management, has announced that Lohr McIntyre of Fayetteville, Ga., has been accepted for admission to Luther for the 2008-09 academic year. Luther is a selective four-year college located in northeast Iowa. The college has an enrollment of 2,550 students and offers a liberal arts education leading to the bachelor of arts degree in 60 majors and pre-professional programs. • Tacoronti selected to DEI The Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society has selected Miranda R. Tacoronti for membership in the local chapter at University of Georgia. Delta Epsilon Iota was established in order to recognize and encourage academic excellence in all fields of study. Students qualify on the basis of academic achievement. Members must have completed a minimum of 30 semester hours at an accredited college or university, while maintaining a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or a scholastic ranking within the top 15 percent of their class. Tacoronti is Spanish education major. She is the daughter of Lynn and Rudy Tacoronti and a graduate of Starr’s Mill High School. • Obiora receives award from Xavier University Jeffrey C. Obiora, son of Emily and Innocent Obiora of Fayetteville, Ga., has accepted a Buschmann Award from Xavier University in Cincinnati. He will graduate from Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School, where he is active in basketball, Mock Trial and community service. Obiora plans to major in biology or psychology at Xavier. The Buschmann award is based on a student’s record in high school and amounts vary. • Peterzalek named to KU honor roll Kyle John Peterzalek, of Fayetteville, Ga., has been named to the honor roll at the University of Kansas for the fall 2007 semester. The honor roll comprises undergraduates who meet requirements in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and in the allied health; architecture and urban design; business; education; engineering; fine arts; journalism; nursing; and social welfare schools. Honor roll criteria vary among the university's academic units. Some schools honor the top 10 percent of students enrolled, some establish a minimum grade-point average and others raise the minimum GPA for each year students are in school. Students must complete a minimum number of credit hours to be considered for the honor roll. A student on KU's Lawrence campus, Peterzalek is a junior majoring in business. He is the son of John and Traci Peterzalek and a graduate of Starr's Mill High School. login to post comments |
