PTC Council should ensure all its workers have professional credentialsTue, 03/11/2008 - 3:50pm

Let’s call it Ewing’s Ordinance. Ewing’s Peachtree City Ordinance. Yeah, now that sounds pretty good. You know, there are many of us fine citizens here in Peachtree City who receive governmental services from the city all the time. Well, let’s say that there was a governmental worker that handled the services which you where getting, but alas, that worker did not hold the professional credentials/certifications required by our fine state laws. How would you ever know? Wouldn’t it be nice if there was somehow, some way that the city of Peachtree City could provide you with the assurance that you need, that the governmental worker that handled the services you needed was properly and currently certified (all right and proper)? You’d be pretty disappointed if that governmental worker helping you wasn’t properly certified in your area of concern/need, wouldn’t you? Well, that happened to me. Check out Georgia Code Section 12-7-19(a) where it clearly says “ALL” persons involved in the work of the subject matter of the aforementioned law must have the proper certification (all means all to me, and not just the supervisor of the quarter). Here’s where Ewing’s Ordinance comes in. I would like to make a suggestion to the City Council (or maybe you could someday) that they would pass an ordinance that would require that “ALL” city employees have the proper/current certification(s) required for the carrying out of task(s) in their field of expertise as required by our fine state law. Then you would have the proper protections so you could keep tabs on your city professional governmental worker any time you chose. What do you think? You better believe that this administration and its upper echelon management won’t volunteer to do it if we don’t (my opinion only). Ask your City Council to ask: Have all current government workers done the right thing, if you were to check on them this minute? Y’all come see us now, ya hear.
