Sandy Creek’s baseball team is, to quote the pithy sportscasters on ESPN, en fuego.

The Patriots (7-0) defeated East Coweta 7-6 on Monday in a come-from-behind victory. Trailing 6-3 and down to their last out in the bottom of the seventh, Avery Anderson made it to first on a throwing error. Chris Triplett got on base with a walk and Braxton Lane made it on base after a strikeout, reaching on a wild pitch to load the bases. Arthur Owens drew a walk to bring in the fourth run and Duncan Midkiff slammed a bases-clearing double to secure the win and keep the young season perfect for Sandy Creek. Anderson, pitching in relief, was the winning pitcher. Craig Carroll had two hits for Sandy Creek in the win and Hunter Parrott drove in a run.

The Patriots will host Griffin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Whitewater (4-1) beat Union Grove 11-9 on Monday. Kevin Fleming picked up his second win of the season, while Joey Costello earned his third save. Josh Petty led Whitewater with three hits, while Zac Mann, Miles Head, Tyler Morgan and Heine Rivera each had a couple of hits for the Wildcats, who had 16 hits in the win and are averaging over nine runs a game.

Whitewater will host Griffin Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Starr’s Mill (3-2) took on Newnan on Monday and lost 7-5. The Panthers had a 5-4 lead when Tyler Claburn (one hit, seven strikeouts) left the mound after pitching four innings, but the Cougars roared back for the win. Terrion Pope and Drew Johnson hit back-to-back home runs for Starr’s Mill, which also got two hits apiece from Claburn and Bryan Hasse. Miles Jaye was the losing pitcher for Starr’s Mill.

The Panthers will host East Coweta Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

McIntosh blasted Bacon County 12-2 on Friday. Andrew Austin struck out four and allowed one hit, while Eric Weiss, Jake Tanis and Taylor Peaden each had two hits. The Chiefs fell to Brunswick 4-0 on Saturday.

McIntosh (2-5) will host Woodward Academy Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Fayette County’s game against Mundy’s Mill last Friday was postponed. The Tigers (1-2) will play at Lovejoy Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Our Lady of Mercy (3-3) lost to Fellowship Christian 17-1 on Monday. Terry Williams and Marsalis Holloway each had two hits for the Bobcats.

Our Lady of Mercy will host Landmark Christian Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Landmark Christian (2-1) hosted Bremen Tuesday night after the paper went to press.
