A new church has formed in east Coweta County and will begin offering worship services this Sunday (Palm Sunday), March 16.

Liberty Baptist Church of Coweta County, under the leadership of Senior Pastor Dr. Randy Wood, was formed out of Liberty Baptist Church of Fayette County, and will meet at Plaza 154 on Ga. Hwy. 154, a mile and a half south of Thomas Crossroads. Sunday worship will be at 9 a.m., Sunday morning Bible study is at 10:15 a.m. and Tuesday evening discipleship will be at 7 p.m.

Liberty’s vision statement is “One Church, All People,” a spokesperson said. “It is the desire of Liberty to embrace all people in the community with genuine love and friendship, and to teach people the truth about life and Jesus Christ.”

A nucleus of about 30 core members began the task of starting the new church in late June, 2007. Under Wood’s guidance, the group began having weekly Bible studies and planning sessions. A meeting site was secured and the hard work of transforming a former sheriff’s office into a place of worship began.

According to Wood, “There is nothing more exciting than being part of birthing a new church for the Lord Jesus! Please consider participating in this time of worship on March 16.”
