Smith speaks to ToastmastersTue, 03/04/2008 - 3:52pm

Dwayne D. Smith, 2002 World Champion of Public Speaking, spoke at the High Noon Toastmasters meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at noon. His message was “The Ultimate Weapon.” Smith joined the Toastmasters organization 18 years ago and soon began entering and winning speaking contests. Bolstered by his success in Toastmasters, he became determined to make speaking a full-time career. Since 2003, Smith has received requests to speak to numerous organizations including Aetna, the American Cancer Society, Delta Air Lines and Clark Atlanta University. His career as a professional speaker has allowed him to help others achieve personal development and professional improvement. Toastmasters International is a world-renowned, non-profit, educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills to anyone who desires to communicate more effectively. It has nearly 220,000 members in 11,300 clubs in 90 countries. Since 1924, Toastmasters has helped people of all backgrounds become more confident and persuasive in front of an audience. This special meeting was held in the board room of the offices of the Fayette County Board of Education, 210 Stonewall Avenue in Fayetteville.
