Juel Eleanor Torrick Clarke, 92, Peachtree City, formerly of Hapeville, died Feb. 26, 2008. She was born March 25, 1915 in Olyphant, Pa. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alexandria Torrick, her husband, James A. Clarke; a son, James Michael Clarke, her three brothers, and her three sisters. Her parents had immigrated from Austria in the early 1900s. She was graduated from high school in 1933 and enrolled in Mt. Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia obtaining her B.S. degree in 1937. In 1942 She joined the United States Army Nurse Corps and was assigned to Kansas, where she met her husband, an air corps B-17 pilot. They married Nov. 25, 1944 in Dodge City, Kan. She continued working in nursing until 1975. In 1979 they moved in Peachtree City. She enjoyed reading, being outside to garden her flowers and plants and walk her dogs. A funeral Mass was at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment with full military honors at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include a son, William J. and Carol Clarke, Atlanta; and a son-in-law, Ray Collins, Fairburn. Memorial donations may be given to the Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Rd., NW, Atlanta, GA 30318 or Hospice Atlanta, 6610 Bay Circle, Ste. C., Norcross, GA 30071.
