It's one-and-done for Northgate, East Coweta girls

The Northgate Lady Vikings and East Coweta Lady Indians made the state playoffs, but both suffered the same fate last week, losing in the first round.

Making its first trip to the state playoffs in school history, Northgate lost to Northside, Warner Robins 53-37 in the Class AAAA playoffs.
East Coweta lost to Stephenson 81-14 in the Class AAAAA playoffs.

Northgate ended the season with its best record since 1999, 14-14.

The game featured the first playoff points every scored by Northgate, on a basket by Erica Albers.

Northgate kept it close late, pulling to within eight (39-31) with 4:23 remaining in the fourth quarter, but Northside responded with a 14-6 run to close the game.

It was the final game for Northgate senior Natalie Pluskota, who scored a team-high 13 points.

Brianna Banks added eight points, Albers scored seven and Desire Watson-Isom had six.
Stephenson essentially ended its game against East Coweta by halftime, holding a commanding 48-8 lead.

The mercy rule went in to effect in the second half, with each quarter being played in six minutes, not the usual eight.

Stephenson had two players score in double figures, Jylisa Williams, who led all scorers with 14 points, and Yasheeka Jones, who had 11 points.

Areli Aguirre led East Coweta with 10 points, and Kristin Ellerbee was the only other East Coweta player who scored, finishing with four points.
