Gang sentences protested

“Free the Fayette Two.” A small but vocal group of protesters led by Universal Negro Improvement Association representative Chief Sundiata Kamara gathered Feb. 22 at the Fayette County Justice Center to make their feelings known about District Attorney Scott Ballard and what they said was the unfair incarceration of two males now serving time for a recent conviction on gang-related fighting at Fayette County High School. Just some fun with a misplaced modifier. Kind of like:

Antique Teacher's Desk: A desk used by an antique teacher.

Or, similar, this ad:

Antique desk suitable for lady with large round legs.

This is an absolutely disgusting story. Anyone who refers to the Crips and the Bloods, two groups that do such terrible, illegal, destructive things, 'youth organizations" is truly ignorant. Ideas like this are actually dangerous. I hope some kids don't read this and think it's okay to join the Crips and Bloods because they are "youth organization."

Disgusting.

Yet there are questions that remain unanswered in regards to District Attorney Mr. Softy Ballard.

Let's look at three cases for now and start out with giving Mr. Softy a .333 batting average. He hit a home run when got tough with these juvenile gang terrorists. That some pretty tough sentencing that ole Scotty dished out on those boys. I could really care less as we need some good examples for our young 'Youth Organization' members to learn how not to conduct themselves in our society.

Now let's move on to Mr. Softy's strike-outs. Scotty struck out when he gave a month's sentencing at Disneyland to the White Whitewater Columbine Wannabe. Where's the stiff sentencing in this case? This "white" punk carried to school his 'Columbine In A Trunk Kit' and got off with hardly a scratch. Now what kind of message does that send to the other students seeking attention or "whatever", as Muddle would say, who now see this wannabe Columbine Murderer attending school as if nothing ever happened? Now our law enforcement officers nailed both of these groups in total disregard as to the color of the perpetrators skin. But, what I have to ask is why our District Attorney didn't subject the white boy to the same correct sentencing procedures as he held the black boys to?

Now Slugger Softy is hitting .500 until you throw in our infamous child predator, sex offender, campaign contributing molester Mr. Jeffrey David Allen. Need I say more? Not only did Scotty make most of his money off of defending scum like Allen, but he befriends them and testifies in their behalf in order to keep them out of jail. Now one has to ask themselves if Predator Allen were colored, would Scotty have driven a couple of hundred miles to speak on the molesters behalf? Puzzled

I suppose our District Attorney think the same as NAMBLA does? They think that child molestation is not a punishable crime, but a condition that can simply be treated. Was that it? Or does Scotty find it easier to make examples out of Negroes? Gee... from what I hear, the only thing that Scotty and his Kenny's Koffee Klatch buddies dislike more than blacks is Yankees.... The latter I can somewhat relate to. Eye-wink

Okay, okay already... I was just kidding on the the Yankee thing. I meant the New York Yankees. My AL team is Boston! Smiling

That's the point alot of us are asking Ballard. It does not seem just or fair, and so as a result, we have protests on the courthouse steps.

My question is, what hard evidence did they have to put these kids in prison (besides myspace.com)? Did they have an adequate attorney representing them? Will there be an appeal? There are so many unanswered questions and this has begun to affect our community very negatively.

This is going to 'hit-the-fan', just like Jena 6 and Genarlow Wilson.

Appeal already started with on of the top attorneys in the state and for that matter the country. One would suffice from this blog that there is smart rationale from Mr. Ballard on these prison sentences based on the precieved and now substaniated support he would receive, no is receiving from the good ole folk in Fayette. Vote Ballard! A man that is tough on gang violence, soft on white kids with AK47s in their trunk OR NFL players with large payoffs...Oh and petifiles are cool too.

I agree that the white boy should have been punished more, but as a parent of a student at FCHS I don't want these kids at the school, if a video of them and them bragging about being a gang isn't enough just what is?Once there is a drive by shooting and some innocent kid gets killed it's too late. Ya'll can let these kids go, slap them on the wrist and tell them go and sin no more, but let them go back to school in the so-called better Fayette schools because I think if it involves your kids it might seem a little different. I'm not trying to make anyone mad but my child's safety is what I worry about first and I think these kids are a detriment to my child's safety and for that opinion I will not apologize.

However, there are too many questions surrounding what exactly happened. And now, from what superque says, there will be an appeal. That, in itself, sends up 'red flags' that something isn't right with all of this.

I would be first in line to throw the book at a 'gang member' who endangered anyone, children or adults. But I question whether these kids were really part of a 'gang.' That is the crux of all this.

I have kids in the school system too and I've had to de-escalate situations for my kids when bullies are involved, and yes, the bullies were of 'color.' I still want to snatch that kid bald, who was picking on my daughter in 4th grade!

2 of the kids were not on the video bragging. One witnessed the fight in the bathroom and the other was in the fight. (It was a normal kid fight with no weapons or injuries). It looked like two sissys fighting on the video actually..(They had no fighting skills at all). The kid doing the braggin' on the video is being tried as an adult. One of the kids honestly didn't do anything wrong, but he did something very very stupid. He downloaded some gang material from the internet for a friend of his... That kid is a nerd. Stupid, but a nerd with no priors. He got 4 years!!! I don't care what color these kids are or how afraid some folks are, the sentencing is inaccurate. You could have expelled the kids from school or the county and placed them in alternative schools for kids with issues. Prison will most likely give them lost hope and once they get out, they will be the ones jackin' you and breaking in your homes. The making of a criminal...Harsh discipline isn't always jail time. You get out wanting to hurt people. I know, I've been there...Hey, maybe they will come back to pay some of you folks a visit in Fayette.

Please do not think the bloggers such as the one who seems to be on here 24/7. He more than likely is a cop or his family member is one, which his attitude is a prime example of the change that needs to take place.

I agree that once again, Scotty and the "Fearsome Foursome" in the courthouse have tried to make an example out of someone they just assume is a gang member. They're not the first and I'm afraid they won't be the last to suffer through a court system that shows no compassion for anyone - unless you kill two people in your care while intoxicated - but they seem to think that nobody deserves "first offender" status - no matter how clean their records are. I've seen it over and over. All they want to do is be big and bad, but in the process they're not being fair to a majority of the people in this county. You are right, this "punishment" is not going to help them, it's going to increase the chance that they become real gang-members. Prison is a good recruiting place.

It's sad, but like you implied - "what goes around, comes around". The ones with authority in this county who abuse their power might want to think about that. No - that's not a threat - it's called karma.

with threats.....yes, keep threatening us. "Maybe they will come back and pay us a visit"????

You aren't helping the young adults with their case.

You keep asking who really knows what happened, were you there and if you weren't what makes your opinion any better then the rest?

Would you happen to have a link to the fight video so we could all have a look? I've tried to search for it on myspace.com but it may have been removed.

Maybe opening up the dialogue, after viewing the video, and seeing the 'gang material' would help us bloggers.
