The Southern Nights Chorale will perform a benefit concert at Fayette Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville on Sunday, March 9, at 5 p.m.

Performing with the chorale will be Fayette County High School’s Bel Canto Girls’ Chorus, directed by Becki Mayo.

Founded in 2004, The Southern Nights Chorale is a precision a cappella ensemble made-up of singers from the south metro Atlanta area. Under the direction of J.D. Holmes, the group performs music in harmony parts TTBB.

Their repertoire includes secular favorites such as “Dixie,” “Danny Boy” and “America the Beautiful,” plus sacred works like “Ave Maria,” “Irish Blessing” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”

The chorale has performed at the Fredrick Brown Amphitheater in Peachtree City, the Villages Amphitheater in Fayetteville and at a variety of church and civic functions throughout the region.

In 2006 they were invited to sing at the Governor’s Mansion.

In 2007 they were selected to sing the National Anthem at a Braves’ game and have been invited back to perform again at a Braves’ game this August.

The concert at Fayette Presbyterian is free and open to the public. A love offering will be taken to raise funds for the church’s ongoing mission work in Nicaragua.

The performance will be in the church sanctuary and will be followed by a “Meet the Musicians” reception in the fellowship hall.

Fayette Presbyterian Church is at 791 Forest Ave. (Ga. Hwy 92 N.), Fayetteville.
