An alleged drunken joyride through 10 yards in the Smokerise subdivision early Tuesday morning has netted some serious charges for a Fayetteville man, police said.

Gary Edward Vaillancourt faces 10 felony counts of criminal damage to property in the second degree after he drove through the yards in circles, spinning his tires and damaging landscape, police said. He’s also charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane.

Vaillancourt was identified after officers responded to an auto crash on Smokerise Point. He was not on the scene when officers found his “severely damaged” vehicle, police said.

The damage estimates from the incident total at least several thousand dollars, police said. The investigation determined that Vaillancourt intentionally plowed through the yards, police added.
