Refford White, 79, Newnan, died Feb. 11, 2008. He was born July 1, 1928, son of the late Irene Sumlin. He was the youngest of three children. He was born and raised in the Palmetto and Madras areas of northern Coweta County and was educated in the public school system. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Lee Durrah, also known as Dorothy Ruth Durrah, whom he married Dec. 23, 1948, and a daughter, Alice Durrah, who died in 1994. He was a member of Wesley Chapel AME Methodist Church in Palmetto and never moved his official membership. Although not in frequent fellowship with his home church after relocating to live and work in Newnan, he made periodic donations to aid his home church. He will be remembered by many neighbors, former co-workers and acquaintances who admired his wit, hard work ethic and unvarnished naked candor.

Services were at Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home chapel with internment at Eastview Cemetery. Survivors include his children, Alvin and Agnes White, Newnan, Larry White, Washington D. C., and Carla Regina Graves White, Killeen Texas; a sister, Ora L. Hall; grandchildren, Tara A. Graves and Asa L. Brownlee; three great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.

Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
