Creek’s Christian Taylor wins long and triple jumps at Chick-fil-A Invitational

One week after signing a Letter of Intent with the University of Florida, Christian Taylor competed in the Chick-fil-A Invitational at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and won the long and triple jumps with marks of 24-09.75 and 50-05.25, respectively.

On Saturday, Feb. 16, Christian Taylor, who trains with the QuickSilver Track Club, opened his competition as an Invitational Athlete with the long jump. Nine athletes competed as Invitational Athletes and 22 competed as collegiate and high school athletes.

Christian’s winning performance was 24-09.75, his personal best, while the winning jump for collegiate and high school athletes stood at 23-09.00. Following the long jump, he also competed in a field of nine Invitational Athletes in the triple jump and won this event with a jump of 50-05.25. The winning mark for collegiate and high school athletes stood at 45-06.25.

Christian, a talented Sandy Çreek High School student, competes in both track and field events. After winning both the long and triple jumps at this event, he also competed in the 200-meter dash and placed fifth among a pool of 45 collegiate and high school athletes. Christian is very pleased with his progress during his Winter Indoor season. He is extremely excited about competing in the University of Kentucky High School Invite in Lexington, Kentucky, later this month and the National Scholastic Indoor Championships in New York next month.
