John Addison, “Doc” Lester, 94, Fayetteville, died Feb. 10, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Addison and Bertha Clyde Graham Lester Sr., his wife, Margaret Mann Lester, and a great-grandson, Ennis G. Laney V. He was born and died in the same house. He enjoyed a long career as a farmer, business owner and city manager of Fayetteville. Great pleasure was taken in sharing surplus from his garden with many in the community.

Services were Feb. 13, 2008, 11 a.m., at the Fayetteville First Baptist Church Overton chapel. The Rev. Chris Perkins and the Rev. Glenn Stringham will officiate, with interment at Westminster Gardens Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Addison and Janet Lester, Fayetteville; a daughter, Laurien and Ennis Laney, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Ellen and Brian Jeffers, and Glenn and Dawn Laney, all of Fayetteville, John Lester V, Senoia, and Adam Lester, Denver, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Anna Jeffers, and Bennett Jeffers, both of Fayetteville; one nephew; and two nieces.

Memorial donations may be made to the Fayetteville First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
