Twilight presents Valentine’s Day show starting ThursdayWed, 02/13/2008 - 10:21am
By: The Citizen
The Twilight Theatre will kick off its 2008 season with a Broadway revue, “Broadway By Candlelight.” The show will feature love songs – some Broadway favorites as well as some lesser known and maybe unexpected love songs – done entirely by candlelight. “Take your Valentine out to dinner and then join us for dessert,” recommended Alison Chambers, Twilight's artistic director. “This show is sure to have something for everyone. We cover all aspects of love. There's lots of romance, of course. It is, after all, Valentine's Day. But we also have songs about different aspects and kinds of love – heartache, love of your children, love of animals, love of money... I think you get my point. It's going to be both a fun and elegant evening, and the ambience is going to be extremely romantic. I can't wait to see the theatre covered in candles!” Tickets are available at BrownPaperTickets.com (Search for "Broadway By Candlelight") and must be purchased in advance in order for the desserts to be prepared. Performances are Feb. 14, 15, and 16 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 17 at 2:30 p.m. at the YMCA Blackbox Theatre. Ticket sales will stop 12 hours prior to each performance, so early birds are encouraged to go ahead and order tickets. Ticket prices are $16 for adults and $14 for students and seniors and include your choice of dessert – cheesecake or chocolate cake – and coffee at intermission. “This is a black tie optional event. We're going to be in our finest attire, and we encourage you to get 'gussied' up as well,” adds Chambers. Twilight has an exceptional season planned. Up next is their reunion show, which will be a fund-raising gala that will reunite all of the casts from Twilight's previous shows. The rest of the season includes “Into the Woods,” “The Music Man,” “Evita” and The Civil War.” After their two successful January workshops, Twilight also has a “Little Women” and Shakespeare workshops planned for the near future.
