James Eliott Barrow, 84, Fayetteville, died Dec. 26, 2005, after an extended illness. He was born Feb. 19, 1921 in Matthews, Jefferson County, the son of James Ezra “Doc” and Sara Murray Barrow. He attended primary school in Matthews and secondary school in Wrens. He then attended Augusta College for one year and transferred to Georgia Institute of Technology, where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. At this time he learned to fly and spent four years in the United States Navy as a primary flight instructor. After discharge he first farmed with his father worked at Knox Warrenton Company, and then co-founded JEBCO in Jonesboro. Graveside services were at Ways Baptist Church Cemetery, Stellaville. Survivors include his wife, Jo Anne Bray Barrow; sons, James Eliott Barrow Jr., and Gregory Watson Barrow; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Ways Baptist Church or Mt. Moriah Methodist Church, in care of Postmaster, Matthews, GA 30818. Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge. login to post comments |
