Terrance Lawrence of Fayette County was among the nine students who recently graduated from the Urban and Structural Pest Management Certificate Program at the University of Georgia Griffin Campus. The program is a 10-week lecture series that produces trained technicians for the Georgia pest control industry. Graduates of the program are exposed to various aspects of the industry including sales, customer service and legal affairs. The majority of the program is focused on educating participants on identification, biology and management of the most common urban insect pests. “Many of Georgia more than 1,200 pest management companies are continuously searching for dedicated, responsible employees,” said UGA entomologist Dan Suiter, director of the certificate program. “Our program is now providing them with the educated staff they desperately need.” The certificate program is offered twice a year through the UGA Griffin Campus Office of Continuing Education. The next course will begin in April 2008. For more information, see the program website at www.gabugs.uga.edu. login to post comments |
