Louise Greene Phillips, 97, Fayetteville, formerly of longtime resident of Baldwyn, Miss., and Monticello, Fla., died Feb. 2, 2008 after a brief illness. She was born July 17, 1910 in Rives, Tenn., daughter of the late Tobe Davenport and Mary Smith Greene. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur M. Phillips Sr., a brother, Walter D. Greene, and a sister, Katherine Greene Brevard. She was a graduate of Baldwyn High School and Mississippi State College for Women. She was a retired school teacher and had taught school in Mississippi and Monticello, Fla. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Baldwyn and gave generously of her time, talents, and gifts. Services were at the Waters Funeral Home chapel, Baldwyn. Survivors include a son, Arthur M. and Chris Phillips Jr., West Allis, Wisc.; a daughter, Mary Ann and Jim Stephens, Fayetteville; a brother, Jimmy and Loretta Greene, Rockdale, Texas; a sister, Sarah Abernathy, Kingston, Tenn.; grandchildren, Mary-Julia Stephens, Tyrone; Toni Phillips, Milwaukee, Wisc., James F. Stephens, Fayetteville, Paula and Chris Lange, Round Rock, Texas, and Daniel and Courtney Stephens, Atlanta; and a great-grandson, Christopher Andrew Lange, Round Rock, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Baldwyn, Miss. Waters Funeral Home, Baldwyn, Miss., was in charge. login to post comments |
