• Digby named to dean’s list

Sean M. Digby, of Peachtree City, Ga., has been named to the dean’s list at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for the fall 2007 semester. Students who make a 3.2 or higher semester grade point average are awarded this honor.

• Lentz named winner of June Brothers Scholarship

Daniel T. Lentz was awarded the June Brothers Scholarship at the 23rd annual National Voluntary Protection Programs Participant’s Association (VPPPA) conference held in Washington D.C. The June Brothers Scholarship is for students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in the safety/health/environmental field at a college or university. Lentz is a 2007 graduate from Whitewater High School and is enrolled in a health/medical/science program at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. His father, Vincent Lentz, is employed at Delta Air Lines in Atlanta. Delta Air Lines is a member of VPPPA. The VPPPA National Board of Directors initiated this scholarship to give back to the future generation of safety and health leaders through a financial award given annually.

• Locals named to Griffin Tech president’s list

Dr. Robert Arnold, president of Griffin Technical College, recently announced the names of those earning recognition on the school’s the fall 2007 president’s list. In order to obtain this distinction, a student must be enrolled full time and maintain a perfect grade point average of 4.0.
