Restaurants that deserve more business

In the course of trying to find favorable food selections for my devoted fans, I often run into restaurants that should have far more business. Whether it’s a bad location or the word hasn’t reached the patrons, the half-empty restaurants simply deserve a better break from the dining public.

One of those restaurants is WK’s Cafe in the Braelinn Shopping Center in Peachtree City. In my mind, this place serves the best pizza in the county. (Foodie aside: the best pizza in the region is Oz Pizza in Fairburn.)

The last time my parents were in town fleeing yet another hurricane, I stopped by WK’s and picked up a pizza to take home. My mother, who is Italian, and my dad, both remarked how the pizza reminded them of the pies served in my mother’s old Italian neighborhood in north Denver.

But the several times I’ve ventured to the restaurant, it’s never slammed.

I also tried there new weekly breakfast buffet, which is a bargain at $3.99. Instead of leaving eggs on the serving line to turn hard and inedible, the waiter takes your order and brings your eggs to the table piping hot.

Another restaurant the seems chronically undercrowded, especially at lunch, is El Ranchero in the Banks Crossing Shopping Center in Fayetteville.

I really don’t think there’s a better deal in the city than their lunch specials. For less money than you would spend at a fast food restaurant, you can get a freshly-prepared Mexican meal. I’ve also been there a few times for dinner, and the empty tables usually outnumber the full ones. Now that JC Penney has opened in the center, maybe they’ll get some more-deserved business.

Speaking of Mexican restaurants, when will La Hacienda on Ga. Highway 85 in Fayetteville open? I’ve watched two different colors of paint be applied to the building, yet it still hasn’t opened. What’s the deal?

Next month, I’ll offer some holiday treats for hungry diners in the area.
