The Coweta Cancer Support Group will meet on Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. in Room 129C of First Baptist Church at 15 West Washington Street in Newnan. A special session will be presented by Lisa Cockerham, mission delivery manager for the American Cancer Society (ACS). In this role Cockerham has responsibility for the various community programs and services that are available for cancer patients and their families in Coweta County.

She will also be assisting with survivor events for the 2008 Coweta Relay For Life which will be celebrating its 15th year of Relay beginning on March 8. The Survivor Brunch will be held on that Saturday to launch the season of Relay to culminate on May 2 and 3 at the Coweta Fairgrounds.

The support group welcomes cancer survivors, their caregivers, family, friends and anyone who would like to learn more about life after cancer while enjoying the caring and fellowship of others. In addition to the program, time is provided for refreshments and meeting other guests. For more information, call Katie Jackson at 770-502-9097 or Corene Wallace at 770-251-2537.

The Durable Medical Equipment program is coordinated by John Weinig, an active Cancer Support Group volunteer. Anyone needing equipment or wishing to make a donation of good used equipment is asked to telephone 770-502-1835.
