Piedmont Newnan Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Dwayne P. Hansberry as director of radiology services. Hansberry will be responsible for directing diagnostic imaging services and establishing production control and performance standards for administrative and technical diagnostic imaging activities. Hansberry also will oversee Piedmont Newnan Hospital's newly acquired 64-slice SOMATOM Sensation computed tomography (CT) cardiac scanner. The state-of-the-art imaging equipment, which is manufactured by Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc., is the only one of its kind in the southern Atlanta area to have the specialized cardiac functions inherent to the scanner. "We are pleased to have Dwayne as a part of the Piedmont Newnan family," said Nathan Nipper, chief operating officer at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. "He brings a breadth and depth of experience and knowledge to the department that will help us continue to grow our radiology services for the benefit of those we serve." Joining Piedmont Healthcare in 2003, Hansberry was previously special imaging manager for Piedmont Healthcare where he obtained and maintained the American College of Radiology (ACR) diagnostic imaging modality accreditation program for other Piedmont radiology departments. He also developed and implemented standardized MRI, CT, ultrasound and nuclear medicine operating procedures and protocols to meet ACR requirements. Hansberry received his bachelor's degree from The University of the State of New York in Albany, NY, and his A.A.S in radiologic technology from the Community College of the Air Force. He is a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and is a registered technologist in Radiography (R), Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance (MR) Imaging. Hansberry is also a member of American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) and a founding member of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. Hansberry moved to the Atlanta area five years ago from Germany. He resides in South Fulton County with his wife and three children. Dwayne’s hobbies include golfing, tennis, landscaping and spending time with friends and family.
