• Parks graduates from basic military training

Air Force Airman Gwendolyn T. Parks has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
She is the daughter of Wendol and Emma Jean Parks of Fayetteville, Ga.
Her sister, Kimberly Parks, resides in Atlanta, Ga.
Parks is a 2006 graduate of Lovejoy High School, Hampton, Ga.

• Bass named to law school honor list

Emily M. Bass, of Peachtree City, Ga., was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law. Bass is a second-year law student. To qualify for the honor, a law student must have earned a minimum 3.0 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 10 credit hours of coursework.

• Samford debaters from Georgia tops at regional tournament

Samford University debaters Erin Ramsey of Peachtree City and Logan Gramzinski of Covington claimed championship honors at a regional tournament hosted by the University of Florida, Jan. 11-13.
The Georgians were undefeated in preliminary rounds before winning the final round 3-0 against Vanderbilt University to finish number one in a field of 20.
They defeated teams from Vanderbilt, University of Florida, Florida State and reigning national champion Emory University en route to the final round.
The Samford pair is the only team in its district to win two regional tournaments this debate season.
Ramsey, a junior political science major, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ramsey.
Gramzinski, a sophomore pre-law major, is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Bill Gramzinski.
