It’s time again for the always-aniticipated breakfast extravaganza also known as the Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City’s Pancake Saturday.

Now in its 16th year, the event will once again serve thousands of people mountains of pancakes and sausage and gallons upon gallons of orange juice, milk, coffee and tea.

Last year, 3,000 people consumed 10,000 pancakes at the 15th annual Pancake Saturday sponsored by the Kiwanis Club. A significant number of those folks were repeat customers from previous years. They realized that not only was the all-you-can-eat meal mighty tasty, but a great bargain at just $4 per person.

As if that werent’s enough, the event is fun and proceeds go to a good cause. Kids in tow enjoyed the antics of the clown troupe from New Hope Baptist Church, free face painting, balloons and pancake eating contest while the adults caught up on the latest gossip from their friends and neighbors or just listened to the old tunes sung by a strolling barbershop quartet.

On Saturday, Jan. 26 the Kiwanis Club will do it all again for the 16th consecutive year at no increase in price. All of the entertainment provided to customers last year will be repeated again this year, and a new addition for the kids is the introduction of Flap Jack, the raccoon.

Serving hours will take place from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the McIntosh High School cafeteria on Walt Banks Road where plenty of free parking exists. Tickets are available from any Kiwanis member or may be purchased at the door. Take-out orders are available for people on their way to work or those just in a hurry.

The event is staffed by club members with valuable assistance provided by members of the McIntosh and Starr’s Mill high school Key Clubs. All proceeds are returned to the community through charitable donations or in support of community service projects.
