The McIntosh Wrestler swept a dual meet against Ola and Eagles Landing High School on Tuesday Jan. 8 at the McIntosh Gym. In the opening match against Ola, the sixth ranked team in Class AAA, the Chiefs scored an exciting victory 36 to 30. In the second match McIntosh beat Eagles Landing 76 to 6.

The two wins improve the Chiefs’ dual record for the season to 12 wins against 3 losses.
Afterwards McIntosh Coach Nick Bellantoni commented “The win against Ola was a quality win. Ola is a tough team with strong wrestlers in nearly all weight classes. They are clearly a Top 10 team in 3A so this win makes me very happy.”

Seven McIntosh wrestlers were a perfect 2 – 0 on the night; Sean Carney at 285lbs, Matt Carroll 215lbs, Carl Scheumann 152lbs, Rick Oskey 145lbs, Richard Hughes 130lbs, Matt Perry 119lbs and Jarrod Chamblee 112lbs.

Jacob Worthington 171lbs, Andrew Graham 160lbs and Gabby Perez 171lbs each had on victory.
Wrestlers with one win and one loss were Trent Shallow 103lbs, Javy Perez, 125lbs, Jim Murrell 135 lbs, Gavin Carlson 140lbs and Erik Willanzheimer 189lbs.

Jake Fountain competed for the Chiefs at 160lbs.
Coach Bellantoni said “We now turn our focus to the second half of the season. We have had some successes so far but I think that this team is capable of more. This win against Ola was nice, but we need to keep our focus. We have to step up to become the team we are capable of becoming. We have some tough matches coming up in the next few weeks at Stockbridge, East Paulding and Whitewater.”
