Fayetteville couple suspected in other cases

A Fayetteville couple remain in jail without bond in Henry County after they were arrested for robbing a women’s clothing store in McDonough last month, police said.

Roslyn Ford-Calhoun and Preston Calhoun are also suspected in several other similar incidents in the metro Atlanta area, including some at dollar stores, police said.

The Calhouns were caught after a police officer near the Cato store in McDonough briefly gave chase before backing off due to safety concerns, police said. Later that day, a Henry County police officer observed the getaway vehicle in a residential area, and further investigation led to the arrest of Mr. Calhoun, police said.

After leaving the scene of the found getaway vehicle, which was registered to Mrs. Ford-Calhoun, she was observed in the parking lot of a nearby church, dirty and sweaty as if she had been in hiding, police said. It was believed that she had called a friend or relative to come pick her up, police said.

During the Cato robbery, Ford-Calhoun distracted the store clerk so her husband could go to the cash register at the back of the store and take the money, police said. At the same time, while at the front of the store, Ford-Calhoun served as a lookout, watching for signs of police, officers said.
