Whitewater swimmers take first place at Landmark meet

The Whitewater boys and girls swim teams both took first place at the Landmark meet in Douglasville last Friday.

State qualifiers for Whitewater were:

• Alex Menke, 1st, 200 freestyle, 1;52.29

• Jaron Beckwith, 1st, 100 freestyle, 51.16; 1st, 100 back, 59.34

Those who placed in the top six of their events were:

Boys
• Menke, 1st in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle

• Beckwith, 1st in the 100 freestyle and 100 back

• Ben Starkey, 2nd in the 100 breast and 100 fly

• Brandon Mason, 3rd in the 100 freestyle, 4th in the 50 freestyle

• Alex Todd, 4th in the 200 IM, 3rd in the 100 back

• Jordan Steen, 4th in the 100 freestyle, 6th in the 50 freestyle

• Chad Lawrence, 4th in the 100 back, 5th in the 100 fly

• Vishnu Iyengar, 4th in the 100 breast

Girls
• Kristen Bohrer, 1st in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle

• Carly Fogg, 3rd in the 200 freestyle, 5th in the 500 freestyle, 6th in the 100 fly

• Grace Abshire, 4th in the 200 freestyle

• Jessica Heimann, 2nd in the 200 IM, 4th in the 100 back

• Tanya Feilke, 5th in the 100 fly, 4th in the 100 breast

• Zuri Coleman, 4th in the 100 freestyle

• Mary Groover, 5th in the 100 breast

Top finishers in the relays were:

• 200 medley relay boys, 1st, Beckwith, Mason, Menke, Steen

• 200 medley relay girls, 2nd, Heimann, Bidelman, Feilke, Bohrer

• 200 free relay boys, 2nd, Loeffler, Starkey, Coleman, Todd

• 200 free relay girls, 2nd, Heimann, Bidelman, Feilke, Bohrer

• 400 free relay boys - A - 1st, Steen, Mason, Beckwith, Menke; B - 4th, Loeffler, Lawrence, Coleman, Todd

• 400 free relay girls - A - 2nd, Harden, Fogg, Moore, Bidelman; B - 5th, DeCotis, Grieco, Michael, Roberts

Whitewater will swim in the Clayton County Inviational on Saturday.
