Whitewater snags second-place finish in area duals

Whitewater wrestling vs. Starr's Mill

Fayette County hosted the area 2-AAAA duals on Friday and Saturday.

The Woodward Academy War Eagles won it all, going 8-0 in the tournament, while Whitewater took second place, falling to the War Eagles 38-30.

Both teams will attend the state duals in Macon this weekend.

McIntosh took third place (6-2), Fayette County finished in fourth place (5-3) and Starr’s Mill took sixth place (3-5).

Fayette County coach Jim Bailey earned the 300th win of his career over the weekend.
In the 6-AAA area duals, which took place at Flat Rock Middle School, Sandy Creek placed third.

The Patriots defeated Villa Rica 66-18, fell to Carrollton in a hotly contested match, 45-36 and defeated Cedartown 78-6 in the second consolation round and Villa Rica 52-30 in the third consolation round.
